Waiotapu Thermal Wonderland is a spectacular showcase of New Zealand’s most colourful and unique geothermal elements sculpted by thousands of years of geothermal activity. The business is owned by Te Arawa Group Holdings Ltd, who also have commercial interests in forestry, horticulture, tourism and property sectors. Hundreds of thousands of people visit Waiotapu each year and enjoy viewing its unique features. Due to ongoing and forecasted growth, we are seeking a skilled and experienced kitchen manager to fill this newly created role and join the team. The kitchen manager will be responsible for the daily operations of our kitchen, including food preparation, stock ordering, liaising with suppliers, managing food cost and the food control plan. Our kitchen is extremely busy, especially during the summer, so the kitchen manager needs to thrive in a busy environment and provide leadership and direction to staff. Key Responsibilities

  • Manage food preparation, cooking, and presentation processes.
  • Manage and Maintain Food Control Plan, ensuring compliance with food safety and sanitation regulations.
  • Train and upskill kitchen staff on cooking techniques and safety procedures.
  • Monitor inventory levels and order supplies.
  • Maintain kitchen equipment and appliances in good working condition.
  • Develop and maintain recipes, portion sizes, and quality standards.
  • Manage kitchen budgets and control costs.
  • Ensure a clean and organized kitchen environment. Skills & Requirements
  • Proven experience as a kitchen manager or relevant role in the food service industry.
  • Strong knowledge of food safety and sanitation regulations.
  • Positive attitude with a keen eye for detail.
  • Ability to lead and motivate kitchen staff.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organizational and time-management abilities.
  • Problem-solving skills and ability to work under pressure.
  • Culinary degree or certification is a bonus. We are looking for a dynamic and meticulous candidate who is a team player and is professional in manner and appearance. Waiotapu Thermal Wonderland operates 7 days per week, 8.30am – 4.30pm. This is a full-time position, 40 hours per week to be worked over a 7 day roster.
